The University of Guelph demonstrates its commitment to global development through its collaboration with WUSC and CECI. The University of Guelph was the first university in Canada to partner with WUSC and CECI’s Uniterra – Leave for Change corporate volunteering stream, an initiative through which the University sponsors up to seven employees each year to make meaningful contributions to global development overseas. Through the program, staff and faculty members contribute their skills and knowledge during short-term, targeted volunteer assignments with organizations in developing countries.
The University of Guelph is also a strong supporter of WUSC’s Student Refugee Program (SRP). Between 2010 and 2015, the university sponsored a total of 13 young refugees, and they have recently increased their support to respond the to the global refugee crisis. The university community is committed to providing young refugees with life-changing opportunities to continue their education on in Canada and build a better future for themselves and their families.
