The world is experiencing unprecedented global challenges – including climate change, women’s rights, migration, and conflict – among others. Feminist perspectives can elucidate these challenges and bring to bear potential pathways forward. Feminism for whom and defined by whom? Not a simple question.
The answer you have will undoubtedly depend on where you live in the world, your age, your race, your sexual orientation, your income or lack of and any number of other life experiences. In this session, we will convene different perspectives on what feminism means for global development. Five speakers with diverse backgrounds and perspectives on feminism will respond to the questions: How could feminism shape global development? and; Given the wide diversity in the way that inequality is experienced, are there global solutions to the challenges of gender inequality and the violation of women’s rights? How can we meet these challenges?
